As the year 2023 drew to a close, the air travel industry's digital landscape witnessed varying user engagement across popular mobile applications in the United Kingdom. This report, derived from Sensor Tower's comprehensive data, offers a glimpse into the performance of the top five air travel apps during the fourth quarter.
Starting with the easyJet: Travel App, downloads began at around 52K in the last week of September and saw a decrease to approximately 34K by the end of December. A similar trend was observed in weekly active users, starting the quarter with roughly 276K active users and ending with about 296K, indicating a notable fluctuation with a slight increase towards the year's end.
The Ryanair app also experienced a decrease in downloads over the quarter, from nearly 49K to around 36K, while the weekly active users showed a relatively stable trend, starting and ending the quarter with approximately 248K and 235K active users, respectively.
In contrast, Flightradar24 | Flight Tracker not only maintained a consistent download rate, ranging from 30K to 34K, but also generated revenue with a slight drop from about $67K to $41K by the quarter's end. The app's weekly active users saw a decline from around 286K to 260K.
British Airways had a relatively stable quarter in terms of downloads, with numbers hovering around the mid-to-high 20Ks, and a consistent trend in weekly active users, starting with roughly 168K and peaking at around 181K before closing the quarter at about 175K.
Lastly, the Wizz Air - Book Flights app saw its downloads start at close to 18K and drop to around 15K by December. Weekly active users displayed a slight decline from approximately 106K to 101K over the same period.
